Bell and Howell is a name well-known in projectors, it is an American company which was established in 1907 as a motion picture projector and machinery manufacturing company by two projectionists, Donald J. Bell and Albert S. Howell. Bell initiated his work in the projector manufacturing, when he remodeled and modified Octoscope and Kinodrome projectors. The two men initiated their own business by a collaborative effort between Bell and Howell; with their inventive genius and mechanical innovation; the company became famous by resolving the key issues faced by the movie industry which were standardization and fixing.
The company became one of the leading sellers of equipment and services in digital imaging systems and other information related products. The company expanded its products and became a popular name in selling its motion picture cameras, accessories, scanners, multiline optical readers, perforators, dies, etc.
The Bell and Howell product on offer here is the Filmosound 385 projector, an optical sound model. It was a popular filmosound specialist which was produced from 1955 to 1961. It was made of gray wood and a metal door. All the filmosound projectors were variations of the basic model design 185. The current projector is intact and has no major damage except the wear and tear owing to its age.
Looking at this projector, one can actually imagine how people would have used to sit around their living rooms, at their family gatherings or parties and watching movies together. Own this little piece of history to impart a cinematic vintage look to your décor.
