‘BULLET AND SHOT IN INDIA FOREST, PLAIN AND HILLl’- C.E.M. RUSSELL BKS 1116
Reference Code: BKS 1116
On offer here is the rare hunting book ‘Bullet and Shot in Indian Forest, Plain and Hill. With Hints to Beginners in Indian Shooting’, by C. E. M. Russell. This book was published in 1900 by W. Thacker and Co. Twelve pages of prefatory matter are followed by 542 pages of text.
The book is in fair condition. The boards are bumped and rubbed, with fraying and tears to the corners and spine ends. Gilt titling is somewhat faded, but still bright. The binding is solid, though the hinges are a bit weak. Page edges are dusty and scuffed. There is an ink inscription to the front pastedown. Former owner stamps occur to the front and rear pastedowns, as well as to the title page and one or two internal pages (though these do not interfere with legibility). There is some foxing, but most of it is confined to the beginning and end pages. There are a couple of page tears, usually to the margins where uncut pages have been inexpertly separated. But the book is free from scribbles and creases, and overall this is a sound copy of a rare book.
