The era of home computers is incomplete without the mention of Commodore, which was a North American company for producing electronics and home computers. It was a subsidiary of the Commodore Business Machines (CBM) which developed the home computer company in 1970s. The aim of commodore was to bring computer to the masses, and they succeeded in doing so, by selling more than a billion computers in 1983.
On offer here is the Commodore 16 which was introduced in 1984, as the part of the Commodore-264 series. It was similar to C64 and produced to replace VIC-20 as an entry level computer, but black in color with two channel sound and greater than 100 color palette. It had built-in command for graphics and sound, which made the programming much easier. The C-16 was internally similar to the high end Plus 4 except 16 KB RAM and integrated office suite. It was generally considered to be a success in several European countries and a cheaper version of C16, C116 was built and sold to European markets only.
It was considered to be a ‘learning machine’ back in the day, and alongwith the joystick and datassette; it was a wondrous gaming console. The present C-16 is in a good condition with only slight markings visible on the front. It comes with original white datassette and is an ideal piece for the vintage console collectors.
