Description
Barometers are instruments which are used to measure atmospheric pressure. They have been largely used in meteorology to predict short term changes in weather. It measures subtle changes in pressure which are caused by weather with respect to a specific altitude, whereas the barometers are kept stationary. Aneroid barometers are one of its types, invented by Lucien Vidi in 1844 and does not involve any liquid in measuring the pressure, on the other hand, it uses a small metal box or aneroid cell which expands and contracts with air pressure which drives mechanical needles to amplify the movement and display the pressure on the aneroid barometer.
Presented here is the Nautic Barometer 103 PM, manufactured by the German company Fischer. It was founded in 1945 by Kurt Fischer as a company for producing precision mechanics and instruments for climate and weather analysis. This precise aneroid barometer measured absolute atmospheric pressure with a set of five self-stable aneroid capsules. Its cell movement was one of the finest in aneroid and have been used by navies, mariners and weather agencies for more than 60 years. The current item is made of polished chrome brass and silver tainted metal. Its machinery was made of corrosion proof material. The needles seem slightly curved but the glass cover is just fine. The metal seems to be slight tarnished and it can be attributed to its age. The dial shows measurements in both millibar and torr.
Make this barometer a part of your interior to impart it a vintage marine look to it!
