‘HUDIBRAS’-SAMUEL BUTLER (BKS 1084)

Reference Code: BKS 1084

Description

One of the smallest books in our collection, this 1824 edition of Samuel Butler’s poem ‘Hudibras’ measures just 2.4 inches wide, 3.7 inches tall, and 0.7 inches thick. It was published in London by Jones & Company and contains 8 pages of prefatory matter followed by 261 pages of text.
The book is in fair condition. The book seems to have been rebound at some point; its binding is solid. The boards are worn, scuffed, and rounded at the corners. Page edges are scuffed. There are some moisture stains to the first and last pages, along with foxing. The front free endpaper and half-title contain inscriptions, stains, and are also chipped at the corners. The bulk of the main text is in much better condition, with no tears, scribbles, or bends.
