Another HMV 102 in our collection, taking you back in time, can be dubbed as His Master’s Voice’s longest lived and most successful portable gramophone which was introduced in 1931. Marketed by HMV as the ‘World’s finest portable’ was manufactured and sold till 1960.
HMV ensured unprecedented quality and after the replacement by internal horns in 1920s it proved to be one of the finest gramophones in this line. It has a longer internal horn with a wider swan neck tone arm and sound box with an aluminum diaphragm. It has a 10 inch turn table with a spring clips for ‘Tungstyle’ needle tins.
The condition of the outer body of the gramophone is slightly worn out as the polymeric covering on one corner has been peeled off. There are markings and scratches on the body and the handle is also a bit rusty whereas, the inner metal parts are just fine and the inner lining also has some marks on the lid.
