The Mercury II is a post-War reincarnation of the Mercury I, produced from 1945.
This is a Mercury II Model CX half-frame 35mm camera made by the Universal Camera Company out of New York, NY. This camera was ahead of its time and is perhaps one of the most distinct looking cameras of all time and it used a completely unique rotary focal plane shutter that allowed it to reach a maximum shutter speed of 1/1000 second. Vintage Mercury II was a popular camera in its time, and popular among collectors today.
