National is a now obsolete brand name, which was used by Panasonic Corporation, formerly known as Matsushita Electrical Industrial Co. The brand was introduced in 1925 and made a great name in home, personal and industrial appliances. It was initially used by Konosuke Matsushita to market bicycle lamps which were powered by batteries and named it National because he expected it to be used by the whole Japanese nation. Most of the Matsushita products including video and audio items were entitled National Panasonic following the success of Panasonic brand name worldwide. The company dropped the ‘National’ brand name in 1980s and sold their products under the Panasonic name solely.
The National product on offer here is the National MVP-100 color video camera, which was produced in 1984. It was a television broadcast professional camera with black and white matte plastic and had a Saticon camera tube. The camera could be operated only by external supply and came with a VW-CR10N cable remote control. The camera have a C TV mount lens and could be hand held with the grip or mounted on the tripod stand for filming.
The present camera is present in exceptional condition and comes with a brown leather casing, two additional lenses and original user manual.
It was a portable movie camera that was famous back in the day for capturing special moments, making documentaries and was used by novice movie makers to shoot amateur videos. National was the name which stood for quality and standard. This camera is a must-have for all the beginners to learn professional movie making on classics or simply be used as a corner piece in your studio or apartment to add a cinematic touch to it.
