‘FROM PHARAOH TO FELLAH ‘-C. F. MOBERLY BELL (BKS 1085)

Reference Code: BKS 1085

Description

‘From Pharaoh to Fellah’ is an insightful travelogue written by C. F. Moberly Bell about his travels in Egypt. It was originally published by Wells Gardner, Darton, & Co. in 1888. Nine pages of prefatory matter are followed by 194 pages of text and a 4-page publisher’s catalogue. The book contains well over 100 illustrations by Georges Montbard, engraved by Charles Barbant. It is approximately 7.7 inches wide, 10 inches tall, and 0.9 inches thick.
The book is in good condition. The boards exhibit scuff marks and discolouration, and the gilt titling is slightly faded. The boards are also frayed and torn at the corners and spine ends. The binding is solid, though the hinges are a bit weak. Page edges are foxed, as are many of the internal pages. There is an inscription to the front pastedown. But there are no tears or scribbles to the main text, and only a few minor creases.
