The Plaubel Makina IIIR is the last model manufactured by the German camera maker Plaubel before it was sold to a Japanese company. Effectively, the Makina IIIR was the last authentic German-made Makina, released in 1953. Legendary photographer Helmut Newton also used a Plaubel Makina camera at some point in his career.
Makina cameras were a hit with field photographers, and it shows in the construction: this strut-folding camera boasts multiple types of viewfinders (Galilei and frame), a high-speed Anticomar 1:29 (f=10 cm) lens, Compur Rapid shutter (T,B, 1 – 1/400 sec), double image range finder, a black focusing hood, and synchro contact on the bottom right–all held together in a high-quality chrome metal finish. Like the Makina III, it also has a shutter locking button and no self-timer.
The catch for the back is broken. Overall, this camera is in good condition.
