The Sharp Corporation started out as a small-sized metal workshop in Tokyo in 1912, and rapidly became quite famous due to its innovative products. The first of their revolutionary new products was a snap buckle named ‘Tokubijo’ that is still used as part of the seatbelt designs in commercial airlines. The corporation derived its name from its ground-breaking and highly successful Ever-Sharp mechanical pencil introduced in 1915. The pencil business was destroyed by an earthquake in 1923, after which the Sharp Corporation starting producing radio sets, and later moved on to TV sets, stereo systems, and the other consumer electronic products for which it is widely recognized today.
This music centre is one of the earlier music systems introduced by Sharp Corporation. It was one of the first models to feature a fully automatic turntable, offering speeds of 33, 45 and 78 rpm. It also features a cassette-deck, AM/FM receiver, Aux input (which you can use to add a CD player), and a pair of speakers. It is in very good condition (in our opinion), with signs of gentle use visible. All controls are noiseless, with the volume, balance, tones cleaned and lubricated. All components: turntable, amplifier, SW, AM and FM, speakers and cassette deck in good working order.
