‘ST. FRANCIS OF ASSISI : 1226-1926: ESSAYS IN COMMEMORATION (BKS 1095)
Reference Code: BKS 1095
‘St. Francis of Assisi: 1226-1926: Essays in Commemoration’, is a volume containing pieces by various scholars on the life and influence of the legendary saint. A preface in French is followed by eleven essays in English, accompanied by a dozen plates. The book was edited by Walter Seton and published in 1926 at the University of London Press; thirteen pages of prefatory matter are followed by 332 pages of text. The book is approximately 6.4 inches wide, 9.1 inches tall, and 1.5 inches thick.
The book is in good condition. The boards are rubbed and bumped in places, and there are small tears to a couple of the corners. The spine ends are creased, and there is a small hole near the top end. Gilt titling is slightly faded, but still bright. Binding is solid. Page edges have some browning and minor stains. Internally the book is in good shape. Apart from an inscription to the front free endpaper and ex-library markings to the endpaper and title page, the book is free from any major markings, and only the occasional small stain or foxing mars the text. Occasional page corners are chipped, but this is to be expected for a book produced with rough page edges.
