On offer here is a very rare and glamorous looking camera,’Penti’ by Welta. Welta was founded by Walter Waurich and Theodor Weber in 1914 in Germany, titled Weeka-Kamera-Werk, later becoming Welta-Kamera-Wek in 1919. It produced a number of moderately priced cameras which were comparable to those produced by Balda and Certo. The company however, became defunct in 1960s, after transferring to VEB Pentacon.
Penti was introduced in 1959, followed by the Penti I and II. The present camera is Penti II, which was made of gold-anodized aluminum and first introduced in 1961 by Welta. It was a rapid cassette camera and was introduced in other colors as well, including blue, red, black and white. It was one of the finest compact camera of its time with complete set of manual controls and film loading system. It featured the unique design with viewfinder control, coupled with selenium meter.
The present Penti is golden in color and comes with the original red pouch and tripod stand. Make it a part of your collection of vintage cameras to give a unique touch to it.
