WOMEN WHO WIN BY WILLIAM M.THAYER (BKS 1011)
Reference Code: BKS 1011
‘Women Who Win, or, Makings Thing Happen’ by William M. Thayer, is a 19th century work providing brief biographies of fifteen prominent women, ranging from the author Harriet Beecher Stowe to the astronomer Mary Somerville. The book was published in 1898 by T. Nelson and Sons and contains 420 pages, along with several portraits of the women being discussed. The book is approximately 5.4 inches wide, 7.5 inches tall, and 1.5 inches thick.
The book is in great condition for its age. There is some wear and fraying to the board edges and corners. Some of the gilt design has faded, but it is generally still bright. The binding is solid, if slightly cocked. Page edges exhibit some scuff marks and foxing. Internally the foxing is minor, with the exception of the tissue guard protecting the frontispiece. A prize inscription appears on the half-title. Rear pastedown and free endpaper exhibit some rubbing and scratch marks. Apart from this the book is internally sound, with no tears, or markings. Some of the pages have small bends at the corners.
