Item Code: MRA 080

Sometimes, the usual square, rectangular or pendulum clocks are not enough to impart a certain feel that we hoped for. Presented here is a magnificent antique porthole style Lilley and Gilley wall clock, which can add a class to the décor that we needed.

John Lilley and Gilley Ltd. is an unprecedented name in the maritime industry. The history of the company began when John Lilley established ‘John Lilley and Son’ in 1812, whereas, Wilson Gillie established ‘Wilson and Gillie’ in 1885 for manufacturing nautical instruments, admiralty charts, sextants, compasses, etc. Both the companies combined in 1913; hence ‘John Lilley and Gilley Ltd.’ was found. The company has consolidated its name in the marine industry after their time honored UK- based services of 200 years. It still maintains its strong hold in the field and specializes in marine instruments and magnetic compasses which have become sophisticated with the greater research and innovation in the field.

‘Portholes’ were made in sea vessels to impart air and light in the dark and deep ship hulls. What was then a necessity, became a decorative addition to beach houses, cottages, lake houses, etc. The offered porthole clock has a charming polished brass body on a dark stained wooden base. It features Roman numerals with 5 minute interval. The porthole clock can open easily due to the smoothly functioning hinge and twist screws. The clock is in excellent condition, with no damage, mark or scratch on its surface.

A perfect fit to give a quality accent to your décor; this clock is a must-grab for the lovers of vintage nautical themed interior. Mount it in your room, gallery, cottages, shops, etc. to add a taste of uniqueness and class to your interior.
