Wooden Barogram or record of pressure

Item code: MRA 102

With its original key

Early barograph; for measuring and recording barometric pressure and other meteorological work. This is an exceptional barograph in its original oak glass case. Mechanism signed by Negretti & Zambra of London.

A device which is used to measure the atmospheric or barometric pressure is termed as a barometer. The first successful barometrical recording of barometric pressure can be attributed to Alexander Cumming in late 1700s, using barometric clocks. Since then, a number of different types and forms of barometers were created including water-based barometers, mercury barometers, aneroid barometers, barographs, vacuum pump oil barometers, etc.
It has been determined that determining pressure can help predict changes in weather, as well as, for surface weather analysis which can be utilized to regulate high pressure systems, surface troughs and frontal boundaries.
