On offer here is the vintage radio super 287 WD by AEG which stands for Allgemeine Elektricitäts-Gesellschaft AG (German: General Electric Company). It was established by Emil Rathenau in 1883 in Berlin for the production of electrical equipments. It formulated allegiance with Telefunken AG and so forth, was bought and amalgamated with a different companies, finally becoming a part of Adtranz and EADS. The company dealt with electrical power generation, telecommunication, transportation, automation, machine tools, projectors, home appliances, radios, etc. The production of radios and tape recorders dominated the company products from 1930s onwards.
The Super 287 WD was produced in 1952, it is a vintage table model with push buttons. It had five SW Bands and four internal loudspeakers. The body was made of an outer wooden casing and the front speaker panel covered with beige mesh. The current radio has some wear and tear to the body owing to its age. The wood has been chipped off on both the sides of the radio. The back of the radio shows that it is genuine but has a crack in it. The buttons and knobs work just fine and the writing on the front panel is clearly visible and not worn out.
This radio can bring about an antique touch to your interior, when placed in a gallery, study or lounge.
